MATH PROGRAM
PROBLEM SOLVING
ENGLISH PROGRAM

WRITING PROGRAM

The ultimate goal of the IDIIL Math Program is to equip students with a concrete foundation in procedural math skills, while also giving them a deep conceptual understanding of mathematics. Both skills and concepts are essential for developing the ability to learn higher level mathematics and for the longterm retention of the acquired knowledge.
The IDIIL Math Program stresses the development of mathematical concepts first by instilling in the students an appreciation of how and why the concepts are important and useful and then by leading them to learn how to construct the concepts. The development of math concepts for IDIIL math students is threefold and involves (i) the “mathematization” processes, which begin with an intuitive understanding of concrete everyday mathematical situations and ends with abstract mathematical concepts and procedures; (ii) the “generalization” processes, where students construct advanced, abstract concepts based upon more rudimentary concepts previously mastered; and (iii) the “internalization” processes, when the math concepts become part of students’ internal memory set and they gain intuition for learning higher level concepts.
Major content of the MATH Program:
Number Concepts : Number System,
Number Sense, Estimate, Number Theory, etc.
Arithmetic : Standard Arithmetic,
Creative Arithmetic, etc.
Algebra :Pictorial algebra, Junior Function, Prealgebra, Polynomial, Equation, Inequality, Series, Set, Vector, Matrix, Functions, etc.
Geometry : Standard Shapes, Spatial Perception, Plane Geometry, Solid Geometry, Analytic Geometry, etc.
PreCalculus : Trigonometry, Limit, Convergence, Difference Quotient, Combinatorics, Probability, Statistic, Continuity, Derivative, etc.

The goal of the IDIIL Problem Solving & Critical Thinking Program is to equip students with applied mathematics concepts, problem solving strategies & skills, analytical & critical thinking skills and mathematical thinking habits. In addition, students will be introduced to new abstract math concepts and that will deepen their understanding of previously learned abstract math concepts via problem solving situations.
The IDIIL Problem Solving & Critical Thinking Program, like other IDIIL individualized programs, help students learn concepts via the studentcentered discovery process and then helps them to acquire firm skills via tailored individualized exercises. IDIIL’s curriculum is structured in a manner to allow students to observe patterns and discover new concepts while performing problem solving tasks in familiar mathematical situations. Students are constantly challenged to make judgments and decisions on why a concept or an algorithm was introduced and how it can be constructed, utilized and applied. Whenever possible, students will be challenged to make judgments and decisions by the use of given choices or free responses, on what is (are) the adequate/logical way(s) of making mathematical definitions relevant to related concepts.
Major content of the Problem Solving Program:
Problem Solving Skills : Mathematical
significance of textual words, Condition, Textual words → Figures
→ Mathematical sentences → Algebraic sentences, single step → multisteps,
application of geometry, application of algebra, application of
calculus, Dimensional Analysis, etc.

between conditions, propagation of condition, Logic Charts, Logic
Flow Chart, Logical Branch, reduction by elimination, Venn Diagram,
application of Abstract Logic, etc.
Pattern Recognition & Spatial Perception
Analytical capabilities : Systematic
analysis, Critical thinking, Strategy, etc.

The IDIIL
English Program follows IDIIL 's overall philosophy
closely. Similar to Math and Problem Solving, the English curriculum
is customdesigned to challenge each individual
learner. Our design team has developed a curriculum that
enables students to learn reading, writing, and speaking skills
via a process of selfdiscovery. Students gain a genuine understanding
of the English language by experiencing continuous "moments of discovery."
The key to such discoveries is preparation
. IDIIL prepares each English student
to learn by thoroughly equipping him or her with all of the elemental
concepts of the English language. As a student grasps these basic
concepts, he or she becomes equipped to make new discoveries simply
and naturally. This process is continuous: as the student experiences
each new success, he or she becomes more and more confident and
accurate in writing, reading, and speaking English.
The major content of the English
Program:
Word Study : Phonics, Spelling,
Word usage, Analogy, Word parts, Variation of words, Spelling rules,
etc.
Grammar : SubjectVerb Agreement,
Singular/Plural, Tense, Article, Preposition, Sentence Structure,
Part of Speech, Clause, etc.
Reading Comprehension : Direct,
Indirect, Main Idea, Referential Comprehension, Inferential Comprehension,
Analytical Comprehension, Critical Reading, etc.
Basic Paragraph Writing Skills

The IDIIL
Writing Program focuses mainly on helping the student to develop
composition skills in order to aid them in completing various writing
tasks in school. It also helps in the development of expository
writing skills. Therefore, the ultimate goal of this program is
to enable students to write a 5, or more, paragraph essay at the
completion of our writing program. However, as any good writer knows,
all good writing starts with the ability to generate interesting
ideas and to elaborate on thought, so that the writing becomes meaningful
and colorful. Therefore, our writing program starts with brainstorming
and elaboration. Different levels of brainstorming and elaboration
skills will be learned throughout each step of the program.
As with every other IDIIL individualized
program, the IDIIL Writing Program allows students
to learn new concepts and skills through discovery and appreciation
toward the usefulness of these concepts and skills. In addition,
students are constantly asked to constructively criticize their
own writing and the writing of their peers in accordance with the
concepts that they have learned so that their selfawareness and
critical thinking capabilities are developed. IDIIL's
writing program will enable students to perform all types of academic
writing tasks with clarity and confidence.
In addition to composition skills, IDIIL
's writing program will also help to deepen students understanding
and skillful usage of the language arts knowledge they have learned.
However, in order for students to learn more effectively, students
are asked to complete level D of our English program before they
can begin our writing program.
The major content of the Writing Program:
Thought generation: Brainstorming,
Elaboration, Main Idea, etc.
Organization: Cohesion, Opening
Statement, Closing Statement, Paragraph Writing, Introduction, Body
text, Summary, Essay Writing, etc.
Style: Descriptive Writing, Argumentative
Writing, And Creative Writing, etc.
